K10 On The Levee

On the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina, I partnered with local musician +Aziz to create a transformative, commemorative event with yoga and music.

The Story

The concept was simple: 10 years ago, the levee broke. 10 years later our community would stand on the levee as one strong New Orleans, breathing and healing as one.

The day began with sunrise meditation and culminated with a sunset yoga benefit concert.

In-between, yoga studios and musicians hosted classes and performances for twelve-hours on the levee.

Impact

Community: Over 1,000 people attended the events throughout the day, with 300 students attending the sunrise and sunset events.

Collaboration: We engaged 14 yoga studios across New Orleans, inspiring collaboration within the wellness industry. +Aziz engaged 9 musicians to create the yoga sunset concert with him.

Giving Back: We raised $1,000 in event donations for Common Ground Relief, a non-profit that creates resilient Gulf Coast communities through wetland restoration.
